PRESS RELEASE: NSE LEADING THE CHANGE FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN EAST AFRICA THROUGH INNOVATIVE PARTNERSHIPS Copy
Johannesburg, Nairobi
Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc (NSE), a thought leader of Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters in Kenya and indeed the East African Region, is proud to announce a pioneering collaboration with Risk Insights, with regard to adoption by NSE of a Risk Insights developed Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered platform – the ESG GPS. This comes against the backdrop of a collaboration entered into by the two entities in September 2022, to advance enhanced embedding of best ESG practices in the Kenyan corporate space, particularly amongst NSE listed companies.
The ESG GPS platform will provide NSE with access to ESG ratings, ESG disclosure information, ESG news and strategic business intelligence for the NSE-listed companies. This venture underscores NSE’s commitment to maintaining its position as a leading institution driving sustainability, not just in Kenya and East Africa but extending its influence across the entire African continent. This initiative further underlines NSE’s unwavering vision to steer Kenya’s economy towards an enhanced green economy and just transition.
African companies are increasingly focusing on measuring and reporting their impact and sustainability performance to a wide array of stakeholders. NSE’s strategic mission aligns seamlessly with this evolving landscape, as we look to facilitate the ESG transition of our national economy. Our unique positioning allows us to support businesses and organizations in their ESG endeavours, thereby unlocking value for our clients, shareholders, stakeholders, and the broader society.
Mr. Geoffrey Odundo, the Chief Executive of NSE, shared his anticipation for this invaluable partnership, stating,
“We look forward to a prosperous collaboration that will be instrumental in empowering both listed and unlisted companies in Kenya as regards ESG matters. We aspire to spearhead the green transformation that our nation and region urgently need. We are confident that the application of data science and AI tools will guarantee a just and seamless green transition for all our stakeholders.”
Mr. Andrey Bogdanov, Risk Insights Interim Chief Executive Officer in commenting on this aspect of the Risk Insights and NSE collaboration, commented “We are very pleased to take to the next level our collaboration with NSE as a leading player in ensuring just green transitioning in Kenya and Africa”.
